Internships & Volunteer Opportunities
Cascadia Wild believes that learning
should be available not only to those who can afford it but
to all who wish to learn. We are grateful for our many volunteers
who share this vision and help keep us running!
Reading Room Host
Cascadia Wild and our partner, Craigmore Creations, have
a large collection of books on naturalist and related topics,
including field guides, natural history books, herbal medicine
books, and much more. The reading room is provided by Craigmore
Creations and is open to Cascadia Wild members on selected
days.
Duties: Volunteer will be responsible for overseeing
the reading room during open hours. Duties include making
sure visitors are welcome, books and other property are not
damaged or stolen, and the space is cleaned up and locked
after open hours are over.
Time commitment: Volunteer must commit to coming in
on a regular schedule, from September through at least December.
They can choose their own schedule, but they should come in
from one to four times a month, for at least two hours each
time. Weekends are preferred.
Qualifications: Must have proven record of being honest
and trustworthy and must have ability to do duties required.
Compensation: Free membership to Cascadia Wild, a
chance to come in and read lots of good books on a schedule
of your choice, and a chance to meet and hang out with fun,
like-minded people.

to cascadiadave@gmail.com, or call (503) 235-9533.
Naturalist Skills Community Night Coordinator

Monday night in naturalist skills, outdoor survival skills,
hunter-gatherer technologies, nature awareness, or other related
topics. By bringing in members of the community who wish to
share their knowledge, it is designed to bring together students
and teachers, creating a community atmosphere where people
can continue to learn throughout their lives. Classes are
open to all who wish to attend. The program is currently running
once a month, and we would like to expand it to run every
Monday night once again.
Duties include: Soliciting and scheduling teachers,
researching advertising opportunities and promoting the event,
obtaining food donations and other supplies as needed, and
hosting the event and cleaning up the space afterwards. Intern
will work under the supervision of our current coordinator,
who will also help out with these activities for some programs.
Time commitment is approximately 10 hours/week. Internship
can run mid September through December, though a commitment
of September through the beginning of May would be preferred.
Qualifications: A desire to meet interesting members
of the community and promote their classes, ability to facilitate
meetings, ability to research advertising opportunities and
promote the event, ability to work with little supervision,
good communication skills, good writing ability, self-motivated,
reliable, and organized.
Compensation: Intern will receive free membership
to Cascadia Wild and free attendance to select classes, real
world experience in nonprofit operations, and the opportunity
to hang out with fun, like minded people.

interested to info@cascadiawild.org or call (503) 235-9533.
